Corporate Profile(s)
Athenian Brewery S.A. is the largest producer and distributor of beer in Greece. It was established in 1963 by a group of Greek entrepreneurs and it is member of Heineken NV group. Today it sports 4 plants across Greece, three beer factories in Athens, Thessaloniki and Patras and a factory in Lamia bottling natural mineral water IOLI.
For several years, Athenian Brewery is active in issues concerning society, with emphasis in environmental protection, securing a safe working environment, modernization of the production process and information of consumers concerning responsible alcohol consumption.
Athenian Brewery factories operate on natural gas, not gas - thus drastically limiting environmental pollution. Moreover, liquid waste cleaning is performed while employees are informed and mobilized concerning recycling. After the disastrous fires of August 2007, Athenian Brewery studied the needs arising and immediately implemented a support program for assistance as well as prevention offering 15 fire engines to corresponding municipalities around the country.
At the same time, participation in social, sports and musical events is an important part of Athenian Brewery activities. It was a Grand Sponsor for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and as of 2005, it sponsors the most popular sports event UEFA Champions League and supports Greek football by sponsoring SUPER LEAGUE. Also, through Heineken, it allows the fans of good foreign music to enjoy unique musical evenings, while through Amstel; it supports quality Greek music and many other cultural events in the country.
