COSMOTE, member of OTE Group, started commercial operations in Greece in April 1998, five years after its competitors, and in only three and a half years of operations achieved the leading position in the Greek mobile market. Today, COSMOTE is the strongest operator in South-East Europe with over 20 million customers in Greece, Albania, Bulgaria and Romania, addressing an extended market of 45 million people. A milestone in COSMOTE’s history, the acquisition of GERMANOS generates further growth within and beyond Greek borders. COSMOTE now has a wide, specialized commercial network in South-East Europe, that enables the Group to further enhance its market appeal and customer base growth momentum.

From the very beginning of its commercial operations, COSMOTE Group undertook an ambitious network rollout plan as well as a customer friendly commercial strategy viewing mobile telephony as a mass market service. Moreover, it pioneered the introduction of a transparent tariff policy and built upon its core voice offering, while promoting innovative and easy to use data services.
